Varu is generous

'Look. I am going to take 50₹ from my piggy bank. ' said Varun to  Vardhini . 'But what for' she asked. 'Don't you remember  today is our classmate Rahul's birthday. I will  buy  him a gift. 'said Varun.  Did you tell mummy? asked Vardhini  Now I will tell her and go to the shop Will You come with me ?' asked Varun. 'No Varun . I am busy painting . you go and  buy what you like 'answered Vardhini without lifting her head. She had almost finished her painting.  'YeahThis picture looks very nice. You are very good at art ' Appreciating his sister he went to see his mother.Soon he got his mother's  permission and was off to the shop on the Rangan road
The gift shop was not yet open and Varun decided to wait before the shop .  He sat on the steps of the shop and started watching the people on the road. All of them seemed to be busy with their work. The jewellery shop nearby was open and one family was busy buying something. On the otherside  the xeroxand stationary had no customers  Before the shop  was a big tree.Under the tree sat a poor lady with her two children.  Her saree was almost torn. and the children were shabbily dressed. The children were hungry and crying for food. She was continuously asking foralms from all the passerbys. Some took pity on her and dropped a rupee or two in her begging bowl  Many didn't take notice of them .
Varun again looked at them . The younger one was continuously crying in hunger. He  saw a road side hotel nearby It had a board reading
             One plate idi. Rs 30
             One plate dosa  Rs 30
              One plate poori Rs40
One cup of milk/coffee/ tea. Rs20
Varun quickly decided and went there . He boughta plate of idli and a cup of milk with the money he had  He went near the hungry children and gave them the food.He felt very happy and satisfied.

Small deeds of kindness

It was a hot summer sunday afternoon'. Mamma and Pappa were having the afternoon nap. Varun and Vardini six year old twins  were playing in their room. They feltbored playing inside.
'I am goingto the garden with my ball and bat. 'Said Varun ' Will you join me' he asked 'Oh it is so borng. You don't  allow me to bat. Instead I will bring my new storybook and read it for you .'
'Crazy  Stop thinking you are Alice and  dreaming about  wonderland . Instead play with me  and you can improve your strength 'teased Varun. Don't  be so rude Varun  Ok I will play with You for sometime  . Later you have to listen to my story  '. Vardhini agreed.  You go   and  arrange the stumps to play I will go to the kitchen and get waterbottle for us. We may feel thirsty after playing.
Soon bothof them started playing under the shade of a mango tree in their garden   After some time Varun felt thirsty and asked for water. Wait Iam also thirsty. I will first drink and then give you. . said Vardhini  No I asked for water first. So saying he tried to snatch the bottle from Vardhini. But Vardhini also held firmly. and didn't easily give up. In their fight  both of them let the bottle down. Thecap was loose and water fell on the ground and made a puddle. Immediately a tiny bird from the branch of the mango tree  flew down and started drinking the water.
I think it is also thirsty like us. Said Varun . You are right. That is why wr have keep water inbowls in our house . It will help the birds ,squirrels. and other animals to quench their thirst. Said mamma.  She had been watching them for sometime.. Ok Mummy  I will go and get a bowl for this tinybird. I will see that it is filled with clean water every day Said Vardhini. 'Mummy give me some grains. I will feed it every day. Said Varun They both felt happy . Mummy was also happy to see them do a good deed  .

THE. HEAVENLYBLISS

GUESS WHAT I LIKE THE BEST

No toffees nor sweets

No icecream or parties

No toy or talking doll.

Neither the bouncing ball

          Not the colourful drawing pens

          Nor the water filled guns

          Nothing impresses me at all

          Like the happy happy rainfall

I like to stand under a branch and shake

Enjoy the droplets at dawn when I wake

The pleasant smell of Mother Earth dear

The  drumming noise of raindrops  cheers

It is a blessing from heaven

Giving life even to land barren

stops me from going to school

Plying paper boats on road side pool

SPENTING

Today morning as I woke I had a strange Idea. Yesterday being the last working day of the month my salary had been credited to my account. To my surprise I found a six digit figure as my balance . I guessed that some bonus and some shift allowance was added to my regular salary and so it showed that big amount. I was quite pleased with myself añd decided  to maintain the balance atleast for a day. You all are familiar with the concept of fasting.  Most people fast on auspicious days.  They spend the whole day on fruits and milk.  They don't eat cooked food till they complete their fasting. I thought why not we do 'spent' ing.  that is not to spend even a single rupee the whole day. "Spent_ing " a nice word  coined by me. I smiled at myself at this strange word.
I decided that I should not take a single rupee from my pocket whatever the reason be. I knew it was little difficult to keep this but I thought I would be strong enough to try not to spend a penny . As I was thinking on these lines my wife came to me and asked me the reason for my absentmindedness. I narrated the whole issue and showed her the balance with joy. She teased me and said that the balance wouldn't be there even for twenty four hours as we had lots of debts and loans to be paid the following day. But I told her strongly that I wouldn't spend a pie not only the following day but also for another day or two.Let all debts and loans wait for a couple of days to be cleared
After I decided my resolution for today I  started my daily chores. As I was doing my daily practice of yoga my son fifteen years old came to me and said , "papa give me two hundred rupees. I have to buy a  gift for my friend as today is his birthday"        I said hurriedly you don't have to give such a costly gift. Instead you can take a plant from our balcony and gift it. It looks innovative and nature loving. "Papa. You don't know anything. My friend will think that I am mean. Please  papa give me money I have to go and buy a gift "  Bhaiya get me a good set of bangles and earings which match the dress I am going to wear for the party." said my daughter coming out from the bedroom. I was wondering how to overcome the situation. My wife smiled and came to my rescue. Your Papa is not going to spend money today. So take the money you need from your kiddy bank and later I will give you." "But all that is also my money. We should not spend that also. "I said little gloomy. "See if we want to fast we should alone fast . We should not force others with our ideas "my wife said. rather irritated." Let them spend their savings." she said and her words were final.
After that my morning went very peacefully and by tea time the problem reappeared. As. I was having tea my servant maid came and asked for salary. "We usually give you money on 5 or 6 of the month . Why are asking for it today." I groaned. "Sir. Iam going to my home town to attend a marriage. I need money for my expenses."she said. "Never mind you come tomorrow. I will arrange for it. Today I can't help you". I said. "But sir   I am leaving tomorrow early morning. Please give me today." She said almost pleading.  I looked helpless at my wife who was watching us. Again she had a ready made answer for this problem.   "Leela come at six in the evening I will give you money. She said añd sent her. I looked questioningly at her. She understood my thoughts and said "  Our tenant told that he will give me the rent at five. so I told our maid to come at six."  I breathed happily on hearing this. Atleast I need not spend money from my pocket.
At 8 inthe night I faced the same problem for the third time. My father rang up and said that he along with my mother and sister were waiting in the railway station . They couldn't find an auto and hence asked me to bring them home.  My wife said " book a cab and they willcome safely. But I refused, saying "   ' It is matter of  just one hour and the distance is barely fifteen kiometers. The cab will charge atleast five hundred rupees. I will go in my vehicle and bring them home. You get the dinner ready by the timewe return." So saying I started for the railway station. The __'after that story I hate to tell  but I have to reveal the sad part that traffic police stopped me at a signal and charged me with a fine of Two thousand for not wearing seat belt and over speed. Not only that there were previous challans that I had not paid for the past six months such crossing the red signal, goingin prohibited one way....  all amonting to a  total of almost five thousand. The police seized my keys and said that they would return only after clearing all the fines.!! Soo sad .That was the end of my "spenting"😥

Adjustment

    .                                ADJUSTMENT

"   What is this? You know that I dont like milk bread. Yet you have made sandwich out of it as breakfast. ". grumbled  Rajan.
"Sorry dear . There is no brown bread in our grocery shop. Please adjust for today". said Madhu gently. There was no option. Her voice though gentle was determined. This was one thing with Madhu. She did things in her own way not bothered about others. . She could have easily got brown bread from another grocery shop if she wanted. But instead she went for milk bread. It was her nature. She did what she determined....
.   Rajan half heartedly completed his breakfast and got ready for his office.   "Madhu   Madhu..... What is this ? The shirt you have kept  here doesnt have a button . Give me another Its getting late."
"  Dont worry dear I willget it switched in a second. "
" There isnt enough time. I have to rush. "said Rajan.
"See dear. I will stich it in no time.  No other shirt is ready to wear now. Three of them have gone for washing and two for ironing.
Rajan knew that  he had many more but she had decided and it was final. His daughter eighteen years old was watching him with sparkling eyes .She was curious to know who would win in such fights though she was very definite about the answer. He did not argue anymore but left for his work.
It was eight in the night. Rajan was sitting in the balcony looking at the sky. The moon seemed to be  full with  brightness and the night pleasant and peaceful. "Papa. Here is your pre dinner soup. "Siri. Rajan's. daughter came upstairs to give him the soup . "What ..your mother has given me loki soup. She knows that I hate it. Rajan said groaningly. "Papa  you cannot do anything. You are. helpless before mummy.  Why are you afraid of her? ."Siri smiled teasingly.  Rajan smiled at her and sat in the chair. He started drinking it. "Papa  you pour it in the plant if you dont like it . Mama is not going to be know. ". Rajan looked at her  and said No Siri. I wil have it. "But Papa why should you take it when  you dont like it. ""Because it is good for my heart. You know that I had  two stunts placed in my heart. This soup prevents further blocks. It is for my good that she forces such things on me. She is always worried about me. See Siri medicines are bitter. But a mother gives them to her child if he is unwell. It doesnot mean that she  hates them. You know Siri  ours is love marriage. Your grand parents were against me. She left all her relations ,wealth  and her luxurious life for me. I had nothing then. Not even a decent job. She adjusted herself to my atmosphere. When you were born nobody came to her help. I was busy earning money. She adjusted in raising you.  When I was financially  broken she helped me with her savings and jewels.  You should know that your mother is very patient. She takes care of every single matter of me. I love her so much that I donot mind her restrictions. I am ready to adjust. Ofcourse sometimes I go crazy and fight with her. But she nevers gives back. She does things that are good for me confidently without comprimising. Siri you should know that. adjustment is the best medicine for any problem in couple's life" Rajan  completed his soup and started downstairs.

Polly makes friends

Polly the doll was feeling very lonely. Minne had put it on shelf and gone to school. There was no other doll on that shell and all there were books and magazines. Polly didnot like reading and felt sleepy at the sight of them. She hopped from the shelf and reached the window. She tried to squeeze through it but could not.So She peeped out of it and saw a sparrow playing in the branches of the nearby tree. 'How lucky the sparrow is' it thought only if Minne would come and take her out . She would also have a lovely time.  Suddenly a cat came from behind the sparrow and tried to catch it. Polly shouted to the sparrow and alerted it. The sparrow understood the danger and flew high. The cat went away disappointed.
The sparrow flew inside through the window and thanked Polly for saving it. Polly requested the sparrow to give it company till Minne returned from school. The sparrow agreed and both of them had a great time. From that day they both became great friends

The heart of life ___Rivers

Oh look at the  helpless river dear
Was flowing pure long ago
But now dry dark and foul smelling I fear
All because of our fault and ego

Let's not pollute it with whatever no matter
Plastic,wastes , chemical s or garbage
Let's not waste even a drop of water
So precious and is needed at all ages

Let's try and make it shine
Like it flowed long ago
Then our life will be healthy and fine
Like our ancestors who lived long ago

Beauty!. Where is it?

"I am not beautiful.  I have a flat nose, protruding teeth and popping eyes.  I am dark and short. Nobody likes me. " thought Dimple sadly. Her parents had gone to work and she was sitting alone under the shade of a big tree in front of her house. "Only if the parrot gives me her sharp beak ,I would look a little beautiful" she thought when she saw a parrot on the tree branch.
"Dear Parrot you have got beautiful green colour body and pretty beak. Can you please lend me your beauty. I am ugly and nobody wants to play with me. I feel lonely." she asked.
". Sorry dear. I cannot help you. This colour and beak are given by God and I cannot give this to you. I am busy collecting fruits for my children. I have to hurry" said  Polly the parrot. "Shall I help you to collect fruits" asked Dimple. " Yes if you can. Collect some fruits and put them in my basket. "said Polly.  So Dimple helped Polly and in few minutes her basket was full and Polly flew away. Again Dimple felt lonely and sad. After a few minutes Bunny the rabbit came that way He saw Dimple and asked her the reason for her sadness. She told him about her wish and asked him if he could help him. " You look so beautiful in that snow white coat. Your ears are so pretty and the way you hop and jump is loved by all. " said Dimple.  " What you say is true but I cannot  help you. I am born naturally  like this . How can I give them to you? Sorry I have to go. I am hungry . I need to search for carrots. I cannot play with you now" Hearing this Dimple took two carrots from her lunch bag and gave them to Bunny ." Thank you":saying Bunny hopped and went.
Oogly the  wise owl was watching this from the top of the tree. He flew down to Dimple and said "Dimple dear. You are so kind and generous . Your heart is very beautiful. You have got beautiful dimples in your cheeks. Keep smiling always and you will be the most lovable person ." Dimple smiled and thanked Oogly. Seeing her smile a  butterfly flew near Dimple and said "  you   look as beautiful as a rose. Can I be your friend and rest on your shoulders?"  Dimple felt very happy for the first time.

PRIZE

Minnu's eyes were filled with tears. The results of the elocution was just then announced and her  name was missing. She had worked day and night for the competition and hoped to win a prize but to her bad luck she did not get even the consolation prize.
'' Don't worry dear. You had done your best. Might be they deserve it more than you. you can always try again ."Mother tried to comfort her.
"But mummy . I deserve my fruits for the pains I had taken" said Minnu with teary eyes.
"Sure . But might be you  may have to wait a little longer. "Minnu looked definitely upset. She didnot feel like eating her lunch that day. Her father had got her a  new story book as a gift, her grand mother gave her a pretty sweater, knitted by her, her mother made her a delicious cake for her . But she was not happy. She was continuously  thinking of the defeat in the elocution the whole day and went to bed sadly.
''  Minnu  .... Minnu ...some one has come to see you. '' Minnu's  brother Bittu called her from the garden while she was getting ready to school.  Minnu uninterested went out to see who it was.  It was Chacha the school gardener. He had a  rose plant in his hand.
'' Minnu your speech was very effective. you spoke very well on respecting and listening to parents. My son  never used to listen to me and always fought with  me. His mother was also always upset with him. In fact he wanted to send us to aged home. But yesterday after hearing your speech in our school he has changed . The way you spoke about parents sacrifices in bringing up the children has really melted him. Thank you.Minnu. Here is a small gift for your lovely speech. '' saying so he gave the rose plant to her. Minnu's eyes were filed with tears . Mamma I got my prize atlast. '' happily she ran to her mother.

Teen age ---  thirteen  to nineteen years of a child --- is a delicate period where a person  undergoes  both psychological and  physical changes.  His mind constantly gets attracted to new things, new people,  and new emotions. one such feeling he starts developing is --love.  He is neither an  adult or a child . He does like to be commanded or questioned,. If not dealt properly he may become a failure in his life. Parents and teachers should always keep in mind that thechildren in this age group should be dealt with utmost care.
Mr Raju hesitated for a second in front of the principal's room. He did not want to take any hasty decision. He knew that Vipul was a very good  student.  He stood first both in studies and activity everytime since he joined the school but now due to distraction he was going down slowly. Mr Raju had been trying to find the reason for a while and today he came to know about it. Vipul was attracted towards a newcomer in his class--- Sandhya   and unable to resist the liking for her he had given her a love letter.  His class teacher Miss Madhuri took this seriously and canned him in front the class. The children started whispering among themselves and avoiding him .  This made Vipul  ashamed, upset and sad and he did not feel like concentrating in anything.  Being a ninth class student he was neither kid nor adult  and could not digest the happenings.  Mr Raju ----though he was not the class teacher ---he liked Vipul very much and wanted to help him out.  He knew their principal Mr Yogi  was a child centered person and he would definitely come out with a solution .
He entered Mr Yogi's cabin and discussed in detail. Mr yogi thought for a while and decided what to do . Along with Mr Raju he called few other teachers in the staffroom. Among them were Mrs Anita, Mrs Meera, Ms Sharan , Mr Siddarth, Mr Dev .When he entered Vipul class Miss Madhavi was teaching  geomentry to the students and for a moment she felt little nervous seeing the principal. He started talking to the children  in general ,  cracked a few jokes and slowly came to the topic. He asked all the children to take out their rough note books . He went to the board and wrote
  '' I love geometry.
'' I love to watch sun rise.
  '' I love  roses.
   ''I love India.
'' I love to watch cricket
He asked every one to write five sentences similarly.
Next he wrote 'I love my parents.''
                                       '' I love my sister.''
                                        '' I love my students.''
                                         '' I love Mrs Meera.''
                                         '' I love  Mr Siddarth.''
and asked children to write similarly. He then asked  a few of them to read what they have written. He then started addressing the students.  '' Look children .Love is not a bad word. It  is indeed needed for healthy living.  This world looks beautiful when you see it with love. You can do wonders if you fill love in your heart. Without love everything is empty. Think of Mother Theresa, Gautam Buddha or Gandhi. They loved every body--good or bad, rich or poor, man or woman.  That is why they are remembered and praised  by everyone. you all should also live similarly. Shake hands with each and every one in your class and say I LOVE YOU. to each other and from now  think the word love is a  word  which expresses universal brotherhood.''
The children shoke hands with each other and Vipul felt happy that every one shoke hands with him and said I love you.  Mr Raju was happy that principal sir had  solved the problem in a smooth way.

THE PEACOCK FEATHERS

Sitting in the balcony with my favorite drink,  I began to make sketch of my future  moves. I knew that tomorrow as sun rises I had to face a lot of problems. My son had been asking for school fees for the past two days. I had to pay the hospital charges and bring my mother home. In addition to this my brother has been requesting me  for a considerable amount for his job.  The worst thing I did not have a penny in my pocket.  "So what have you decided?" asked my wife as she sat in front of me sipping her cup of coffee.  " Yet to decide.  Not thought of any plans . what do you suggest.? " I said nonchalantly .  My wife was very good at planning  and she always had  realistic ideas. "I can convince people in tomorrow's kitty party and arrange for Chandu's fees. Rest you have to think. " She said confidently. " Bringing home mother is important.  I have to pay atleast a few thousands to get her discharged. '' I know but you can always apply for a mediclaim. you have got that facility.''   '' I know but I thought I will use the mediclaim for Radhe's eye surgery. She needs her sight to be corrected before going for higher studies.''  ''But that can always wait. She can manage with her glasses for another year.  you should try to convince her.'' my wife Vidhya  said.
'' Why don't you ask your elder sister for some help. They are in a well to do position. They can always come to our rescue.''
'' But that will make them think that I am inefficient in managing my family.'' I replied going through  my son Chandu's note book avoiding her looks . She knew that I never liked getting help from relatives for any purpose.
Ok your wish. give that book I have to keep it in Chandu's bag or else he will forget to take it to school tomorrow. ''she said . As I was handing the book , a peacock feather fell down.
'' why does he collect such useless things ?  I asked irritated..
''What is wrong in it ?  Even I used to have it in my maths notebook when I was small..  I strongly believe that I passed my maths exams because of having it in my notebooks.  Seeing it often brings good luck.'' Vidhya replied.
''You too believe in superstitions. I  said disbelievingly.
'' Faith and belief always works wonders .  you know one thing.   The same peacock feather is considered a bad omen in Europe. But in our country Lord Krishna wears it on his crown . So people believe that it will bring good luck. Keep it with you and might be it proves lucky.'' suggested my wife.. ''I donot believe in superstitions''I replied. She went into the house to complete her work ignoring my comments.
I kept quiet for I knew that sometimes a deed which benefits some may become harmful for other.  Every  deed has two faces like the two sides of a coin. After a few seconds a small desire crept into my mind. Might be it is really lucky. why not give it a try?  I took the fallen peacock feather  and placed it in my office bag hoping it will pull me out from my troubles.  The next moment I laughed at myself wondering what a big fool I am.
The night passed peacefully The next day started brightly with my mother coming home happily from hospital cured completely. I need not had to pay her hospital charges as she was widow of a freedom fighter and that particular day the hospital announced free treatment for spouses of freedom fighters.  My son Chandu got a merit scholarship  and my brother bagged a decent job in sports quota. He was a good sprinter it helped him to get a job in railways. My worries had melted like ice instead of mounting to ice mountains.  '' See you believed in what I told  and your problems are solved ''my wife said to me that night while going to sleep
''Was it because of keeping peacock feather in my bag or because good times have started for me. Might be --- peacock feathers are really lucky but I am not going to believe in it.  You know why? For believing and spreading such a superstition may lead to death of many peacocks for their feathers.  Long live peacocks!!!''I said.
''  My dear foolish husband   peacocks are never killed for their feathers because they  shed their feathers annually after breeding season.  These feathers are collected and used. they represent purity of soul, good luck and are also loved for their beauty. So you need not worry about their deaths.''my wife said lovingly. I looked sheepishly.  I knew I was beaten She indeed was more informative than me. but I wanted to say the last word. so I said.  ''why should I go for those feathers when I have you a pure soul --  very beautiful--one who brings good luck to me always . You are my peacock feather dear.

Balcony friends

Meera went to the balcony to remove the dried clothes from the hangline.  Her eyes automatically searched the balcony of the adjoining building.   For the second day  Sundaram sir was not to be seen anywhere in the house. She waited for few seconds but in vain. What has happened to sir?  Has he gone anywhere? But he doesn't have anyone to meet.". different thoughts ran in her mind.  She knew that  he was a lonely man with no one to look after.  He had a daughter whom he had given in marriage to  a NRI  and she lives in US. After his wife's death he was living alone in that flat. His balcony faced the balcony of Meera's house and whenever Meera came to feed the birds or dry clothes, she used to see him sitting there in the balcony reading books. A huge branch of a big neem tree ran into his balcony  it give a wonderful picture.   A female dog was always seen lying in the shade of the tree. Sundaram Sir used to feed the dog with bread or biscuits regularly. As. Meera was also a animal lover she was fascinated with the kindness of. Sundaram Sir.  Once or twice she smiled at him and he replied the same gesture.
One fine day she made some kheer and sent it to him through her son .  He thanked her for her kindness and requested her to spend some time with him. Their friendship grew from then and Meera started treating Sundaram Sir as her father .  She  helped him in his daily chores and a strong bond developed between them .  Now he was not to be seen for the past two days This very thought disturbed her.  The sound of the calling bell brought her back to the present world.  She opened the door and saw a lady standing there. "Can I talk to Meera madam ". "Yes I am Meera May I know who you are". she asked. I am Vimla. Sundaram Sirs daughter. I have come from. U. S   I wanted to take my father along with me to states but he is refusing.  He says he has found a daughter here called Meera . He seems to be happy staying here instead of coming with me.. I hope you appreciate his feelings and do not think him as burden. "   Not at all. I am happy to look after him .   You can leave to US  happily" Meera replied.
Days became weeks and then  into months and everything looked fine till one day. Sundaram Sir fell ill.  Meera took him to different doctors but there was little improvement.  His health started deteriorating and one night he died.  Meera cried a lot   She passed this message to. Vimla     Every time she came to the balcony   she was reminded of him . A few weeks passed by.  "Meera be quick  we are already late. The show will start." Called  Raju. Meera's husband. He had planned for a movie to change. Meera's mood. "    I am ready I will close  the balcony door and come " so saying she went to close the door. As she closing the door her  eyes saw a beautiful scene.  A newly born puppy was lying on the easy chair where   Sundaram Sir used to sit.  A book was lying beside it.  Meera told to herself " Uncle is reborn"

THE MONKEY RETURNS

Do you know that our mind behaves like a monkey---always jumping from one place to other, copying others and creating confusion where ever it is.
I was determined not to open my mouth on any account. Suddenly I realized that my mouth was my first enemy . I have come across incidents were the solution would have been got more easily and quickly had I not interfered.  Sometimes I have seen problems getting aggravated because of my arguing. I am quite sure that I had been on the right side always in an argument but it didnot fetch me anything. It is rightly said that 'you win an argument but lose a friend'.  And so decided not open my mouth today how much temping it might be. Have you started wondering where I am and why I want to maintain silent? Then let me explain it to you.
I was sitting in the office room of my colony to attend a meeting.  I was holding the position of a member of the action committee and I held the responsibility of getting the important works done along with four others.  Now the problem we had to sort out  was regarding the dumping of the garbage in the open plot of our colony. This situated at the end of lane 3 of our colony and the owner was some where abroad.  It had been vacant from the day the colony came into existence and the neighboring houses had been dumping their wastes in that place for a long time.  Recently it was noticed that municipal garbage van coming to that colony was also doing the same.   This led to foul smell emerging from that place and the residents nearby faced a terrible problem. More over it had become a breeding place for rodents and mosquitoes.
The president started the meeting and asked for some ideas. I once again remained my mind not to open its mouth. One of the committee member suggested that we should provide big dustbins at every corner so that people came dump their garbage in it.  But another argued that people used to throwing in open lands will not use the bins.  Another member suggested that the open land be cleaned and converted into park so that children can use it.  But many doubted if that would work as the open plot was not in the center of the colony and also it did not have enough place for placing children playing equipment.  Moreover if the owner returned and demanded for his land it had to be returned. So the discussion moved on but did not come to a proper decision . It was then the monkey in mind returned.
'Why can't we arrange for a shed and place a God's idol there after cleaning  so that nobody would dare to throw garbage there. The owner would also be thrilled to have GOD residing in his plot I said and continued As it is we donot have any temples in our colony and it would be welcomed by both the women and old people.'   There was total silence for a minute after my suggestion but a second later everyone started talking leading to utter confusion. Each one started suggesting his favorite God's idol leading to differences in opinions. Also there were few asking for the construction of a  hall to conduct yoga or meditation classes. Some welcomed that idea saying that the hall could be a boon  for small parties. It could generate revenue for the college funds whereas temple could fetch only a meager amount. Slowly the arguments heated up with members spitting into two groups one supporting the construction of temple and the other the the community hall.    The original problem of stopping the people from throwing the garbage into open land was completely forgotten and the discussion changed its route completely. Time elapsed quickly but no result was achieved fruitfully. At last it was time for the meeting to wind up but we couldnot come to a final decision--Thanks to monkey in my mind.

A PEACEFUL LIFE------ROBBED

                                                                     A PEACEFUL LIFE
I always hated noise. Even my children were afraid  to make noise when I was at home. Being allergic to busy city life and noises there I constructed a house far away from the madding crowd some 20 kilometers away from the heart of the city. There was greenery surrounding my house, I loved the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere there. Going for long walks, raising different types of plants,  enjoying and praising nature become my daily routines till one day I found that another person was constructing a house next to mine.  Though at first I was disappointed that my purpose of building the house was lost, my wife was happy that she got a neighbor to chat. Then started my headches slowly as the house started to take shape. The workers continuously shouting to each other, the sounding horns and wheels of the trucks bringing sand and cement. the sound of the iron rods being cut--all started troubling my nerves. Slowly the work was completed and the neighbors started living in the house.

After a few days I came to know that my neighbour was a big industrialist and had people pouring in his house all the time. One such dealer was a real estate  dealer  who fixed his eyes upon the open lands there. Now you can imagine what happens. Slowly the empty plots were filled with stone, sand and cement and within the blink of a eyelid , huge structures came into existence.  Apartments of five stores became a common feature. Suddenly the whole place seemed to be filled with cars, two wheeler s, autos plying all the time beeping to their he artful and  irritating my ear. A school, a clinic, a shopping mall, an automobile workshop, all seemed to appear in no time robbing my peaceful life. There were houses with their pets barking all the time, houses with youth listeneing to loud music, cabs moving and disturbing the silent night.
Thus I was robbed of living a peaceful life. But the owner of the land there praises me  saying that I WAS A LUCKY PERSON FOR HIM  as he had earned a huge fortune selling those bits of land. Now I am nurturing an idea of the houses here and moving to a still far away place  to recover my peaceful life.!!!

INSPIRATIONS

I should have been ten years old when I had got hurt on my leg and had to go to a corporate hospital.  The  white apron nurses, the clean and neat atmosphere, the well educated doctors getting down from costly cars walking majestically certainly inspired  me young heart.  As days passed and as I grew my role models kept on changing from movie heroes to sports stars. But only when I started working as a teacher  I came across a person who really inspired me. The love he had for  children, his views towards the development of society, his interest in activity based teaching, his ideas in helping the slow learners really wondered me. He was ever ready to help the slow learners, and the differently abled children. Some of his ideas which  held me are
1]  He used to paint a wall in the nursery  and kinder garden rooms white so that the tiny tots could scribble themselves.
2]  He would never allow any teacher forcing a child to write. he used to say that finger movements should first develop and so they should first learn to cut paper, play with clay balls, paint and draw, before learning to write alphabets. He would also not allow elders to hold the hands of children and help them to write. It would spoil the originality he said.
3] Even while walking the child should hold the elders hand  and not viceversa. It develops confidence in the child.
4] If any child had not done home work ,the teacher should find out the reason....... might be there was a party the previous day or they had gone out or might be someone ill in their house, or some relatives had come...  and then help the child  to complete the work instead of punishing the child so that teacher is satisfied that her/his work is completed and the child is benefited by learning something.
5] Each and every child should be given a chance to participate in the annual day celebrations.
6] Children have the right to ask innovative questions, put forth their creative ideas in the class and the teachers should not stop them
7]Children were free to meet him and discuss their problems at any time.
8] Teachers were also given freedom to teach the subjects in their own style
9]  Children should play atleast for one hour every day that too with proper shoes and sports dress under the supervision of an teacher following the rules of the game.
10] Children  should never be differentiated from each other based on their financial status or their learning capacity. He didnot allow to children to give gifts on anyone's birthday. They were asked to make greeting cards on anyone' birthday --be it his or a watchman or ayyah's birthday.
These are only a few of his principles  A day is not sufficient to discuss about his thoughts . his slogans such as
1]  Attitude determines altitudes.
2]  I hear I forget
     I see I remember
     I do I learn
3]  Never jump to conclusions
4] Teach more test less
5]  Act as if everything depends on you. Pray as if everything depends on god.
.                             He makes it a point to see that each class is taken to an excursion to a place full of  adventure and educative. These are some of the ideas of him . A true educationist, a singer , a fine cricketer, an over all all rounder he inspires everyone with his ideals and approach. It is no surprise tha we are inspired by such a rare personality. He is none other than the founder director of our school, Mr Y K Guruwara. I thank you sir for all that you have taught me. I am sure to remember those valuables things throughout my life.

THANK YOU MOM

I still remember the first day I had to recite a poem in my school. My teacher had selected me for the recitation competition representing my class  I was neither a brilliant child nor an active child but her decision to allow me to participate in the competition  helped me to know much more about my mother.  She took the competition very seriously and in fact wrote a small poem in simple language . she helped me in the pronunciation of words, expression modulation of tone and voice untiringly Though I was nervous in the beginning,  my mummy voice of encouraging words lingered in my mind and gave me the necessary support. Whether I won a prize or not is secondary matter but the fact that it boosted my courage and paved way for my further competitions and victories. I owe a great deal for all the good that has happened to me. Now that she is little old with gone teeth and silver hair does not in any way reduce the love for her in me. In fact I ask her to color her hair with Godrej Expert Rich Crème  so that she would still look young and my children respect her and get inspired by her http://godrejexpert.com/single_used_pack.php

WHERE IS HAPPINESS?

My eyes were filled with tears after the results were announced. I knew I couldnot make to the finals. Had all the practice that I had done gone waste? My heart ached and my mind was filled with pain. My mother who had accompanied me to the venue knew that no words spoken could console me. She knew the pains I had taken while practicing  and after so much of practice  the pain Ifelt for not getting the prize. It was a reality show in the small screen conducting singing competitions for the youngsters. Only if I had won a prize I would have been recognized by every common man. Now my chance of earning name and fame had disappeared in thin air I felt helpless
' ok lets make a move . I  have to stop for a while returning home ' my mom told me while getting into the car. .  I kept silent not because I didnot like it but because nothing was entering my brain It was swirling completely around the results ,my failure.... There was silence throughout the journey and suddenly the car stopped in front of a building.
Before I could realise what was happening  a small child came near  and garlanded me. Many children were standing on both sides of the path and showering petals and flowers on me.A voice was welcoming me to the stage. I was baffled and seing my confusion my mom said. ' this is orphanage home. and I have agreed for a musical show conducted by the  Godrej Expert Rich Crèmefor charity purpose with you as the main singer.  Now donot think of what has happened but think of what has to happen. make this day a memorable day for this ungifted children  with your sweet voice, and inspiring songs  The smiling faces of the orphans and glittering eyes with hope lifted my
spirit and the rest of the night I was singing and dancing with joy.
I understood my mom could turn even a bitter failure into success.
                                            MOM YOU ARE THE BEST.
