Balcony friends

Meera went to the balcony to remove the dried clothes from the hangline.  Her eyes automatically searched the balcony of the adjoining building.   For the second day  Sundaram sir was not to be seen anywhere in the house. She waited for few seconds but in vain. What has happened to sir?  Has he gone anywhere? But he doesn't have anyone to meet.". different thoughts ran in her mind.  She knew that  he was a lonely man with no one to look after.  He had a daughter whom he had given in marriage to  a NRI  and she lives in US. After his wife's death he was living alone in that flat. His balcony faced the balcony of Meera's house and whenever Meera came to feed the birds or dry clothes, she used to see him sitting there in the balcony reading books. A huge branch of a big neem tree ran into his balcony  it give a wonderful picture.   A female dog was always seen lying in the shade of the tree. Sundaram Sir used to feed the dog with bread or biscuits regularly. As. Meera was also a animal lover she was fascinated with the kindness of. Sundaram Sir.  Once or twice she smiled at him and he replied the same gesture.
One fine day she made some kheer and sent it to him through her son .  He thanked her for her kindness and requested her to spend some time with him. Their friendship grew from then and Meera started treating Sundaram Sir as her father .  She  helped him in his daily chores and a strong bond developed between them .  Now he was not to be seen for the past two days This very thought disturbed her.  The sound of the calling bell brought her back to the present world.  She opened the door and saw a lady standing there. "Can I talk to Meera madam ". "Yes I am Meera May I know who you are". she asked. I am Vimla. Sundaram Sirs daughter. I have come from. U. S   I wanted to take my father along with me to states but he is refusing.  He says he has found a daughter here called Meera . He seems to be happy staying here instead of coming with me.. I hope you appreciate his feelings and do not think him as burden. "   Not at all. I am happy to look after him .   You can leave to US  happily" Meera replied.
Days became weeks and then  into months and everything looked fine till one day. Sundaram Sir fell ill.  Meera took him to different doctors but there was little improvement.  His health started deteriorating and one night he died.  Meera cried a lot   She passed this message to. Vimla     Every time she came to the balcony   she was reminded of him . A few weeks passed by.  "Meera be quick  we are already late. The show will start." Called  Raju. Meera's husband. He had planned for a movie to change. Meera's mood. "    I am ready I will close  the balcony door and come " so saying she went to close the door. As she closing the door her  eyes saw a beautiful scene.  A newly born puppy was lying on the easy chair where   Sundaram Sir used to sit.  A book was lying beside it.  Meera told to herself " Uncle is reborn"

A CHILD CONFUSION

A CHILD ASKS ???
TWO PARTIES EXCHANGE HEATED WORDS
THERE IS TENSION AND OUR SCHOOL IS CLOSED
TWO RIVAL FACTIONS KILL EACH OTHER
THERE IS CURFEW AND OUR SCHOOL IS CLOSED
ELECTED MEMBERS FIGHT WITH CHAIRS AND MIKES
THERE IS PROTEST AND OUR SCHOOL IS CLOSED
RAIL ROKOS , AUTO STRIKES , BANDHS OR RALLIES
ROADS ARE BLOCKED AND OUR SCHOOL IS CLOSED

BUT WHO CARES OUR PROBLEMS ?

WHEN WORLD CRICKET MATCHES ARE PLAYED
IT IS EXAM TIME AND WE HAVE SCHOOL
WHEN STAR HERO'S FILM IS RELEASED
IT IS PRACTICALS AND WE HAVE SCHOOL
WHEN AFTER TEST WE FEEL LIKE REST
ITS SPECIAL CLASSES AND WE HAVE SCHOOL
WHEN RELATIVES COME FOR A PARTY OR FUNCTION
REVISION CLASSES AND WE HAVE SCHOOL

WHO REALLY CARES OUR PROBLEM???????

FRIEND OR FOE

WHY TO LEARN MATHS I ASK ?
FOR SOLVING SUMS IS NOT AN EASY TASK.
I CANNOT PUT A SMILING MASK
FOR IT IS A NOT A SWEET CASK

TEACHERS SAY TO ADD AND TO BORROW
ALSO TELL, BORROWING MONEY LEADS TO SORROW
MANY TIMES I CHECK MY ANSWERS THOROUGH
BUT CHANCES OF THEM BEING CORRECT----- NARROW

MYSTERIOUS  X'S AND  UNKNOWN Y'S
TRY TO CONFUSE ME I KNOW NOT WHY?
TIME AND DISTANCES,  MANY TIMES I TRY
BUT NOT SUCCESSFUL THAT MAKES ME CRY

THOSE TRIANGLES, TEASE ME, IN CONSTRUCTION
AND ALGEBRAIC EQUATIONS PUT ME IN TENSION
HEAD ACHES FILLS MY BRAIN VOLUME IN MENSURATION
AND COMPOUND INTEREST COMPOUNDS TO MENTION

ALL LIKE PROFIT AND NONE LIKE TO LOSE
AND WHY TO DO LOSS I MUSE?
CONVERTING LOSS TO PROFIT IN DAILY USE
IF TEACHERS TEACH , IT MIGHT BE A NEWS

EVERY THING SEEMS STUPID WITH NO GAIN
DOING MATHS GIVES ME ONLY PAIN
BUT ALL AROUND  ASK ME TO TRAIN
TO DO BETTER MATHS WITH MY STUPID  BRAIN.!

THE MONKEY RETURNS

Do you know that our mind behaves like a monkey---always jumping from one place to other, copying others and creating confusion where ever it is.
I was determined not to open my mouth on any account. Suddenly I realized that my mouth was my first enemy . I have come across incidents were the solution would have been got more easily and quickly had I not interfered.  Sometimes I have seen problems getting aggravated because of my arguing. I am quite sure that I had been on the right side always in an argument but it didnot fetch me anything. It is rightly said that 'you win an argument but lose a friend'.  And so decided not open my mouth today how much temping it might be. Have you started wondering where I am and why I want to maintain silent? Then let me explain it to you.
I was sitting in the office room of my colony to attend a meeting.  I was holding the position of a member of the action committee and I held the responsibility of getting the important works done along with four others.  Now the problem we had to sort out  was regarding the dumping of the garbage in the open plot of our colony. This situated at the end of lane 3 of our colony and the owner was some where abroad.  It had been vacant from the day the colony came into existence and the neighboring houses had been dumping their wastes in that place for a long time.  Recently it was noticed that municipal garbage van coming to that colony was also doing the same.   This led to foul smell emerging from that place and the residents nearby faced a terrible problem. More over it had become a breeding place for rodents and mosquitoes.
The president started the meeting and asked for some ideas. I once again remained my mind not to open its mouth. One of the committee member suggested that we should provide big dustbins at every corner so that people came dump their garbage in it.  But another argued that people used to throwing in open lands will not use the bins.  Another member suggested that the open land be cleaned and converted into park so that children can use it.  But many doubted if that would work as the open plot was not in the center of the colony and also it did not have enough place for placing children playing equipment.  Moreover if the owner returned and demanded for his land it had to be returned. So the discussion moved on but did not come to a proper decision . It was then the monkey in mind returned.
'Why can't we arrange for a shed and place a God's idol there after cleaning  so that nobody would dare to throw garbage there. The owner would also be thrilled to have GOD residing in his plot I said and continued As it is we donot have any temples in our colony and it would be welcomed by both the women and old people.'   There was total silence for a minute after my suggestion but a second later everyone started talking leading to utter confusion. Each one started suggesting his favorite God's idol leading to differences in opinions. Also there were few asking for the construction of a  hall to conduct yoga or meditation classes. Some welcomed that idea saying that the hall could be a boon  for small parties. It could generate revenue for the college funds whereas temple could fetch only a meager amount. Slowly the arguments heated up with members spitting into two groups one supporting the construction of temple and the other the the community hall.    The original problem of stopping the people from throwing the garbage into open land was completely forgotten and the discussion changed its route completely. Time elapsed quickly but no result was achieved fruitfully. At last it was time for the meeting to wind up but we couldnot come to a final decision--Thanks to monkey in my mind.

A PEACEFUL LIFE------ROBBED

                                                                     A PEACEFUL LIFE
I always hated noise. Even my children were afraid  to make noise when I was at home. Being allergic to busy city life and noises there I constructed a house far away from the madding crowd some 20 kilometers away from the heart of the city. There was greenery surrounding my house, I loved the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere there. Going for long walks, raising different types of plants,  enjoying and praising nature become my daily routines till one day I found that another person was constructing a house next to mine.  Though at first I was disappointed that my purpose of building the house was lost, my wife was happy that she got a neighbor to chat. Then started my headches slowly as the house started to take shape. The workers continuously shouting to each other, the sounding horns and wheels of the trucks bringing sand and cement. the sound of the iron rods being cut--all started troubling my nerves. Slowly the work was completed and the neighbors started living in the house.

After a few days I came to know that my neighbour was a big industrialist and had people pouring in his house all the time. One such dealer was a real estate  dealer  who fixed his eyes upon the open lands there. Now you can imagine what happens. Slowly the empty plots were filled with stone, sand and cement and within the blink of a eyelid , huge structures came into existence.  Apartments of five stores became a common feature. Suddenly the whole place seemed to be filled with cars, two wheeler s, autos plying all the time beeping to their he artful and  irritating my ear. A school, a clinic, a shopping mall, an automobile workshop, all seemed to appear in no time robbing my peaceful life. There were houses with their pets barking all the time, houses with youth listeneing to loud music, cabs moving and disturbing the silent night.
Thus I was robbed of living a peaceful life. But the owner of the land there praises me  saying that I WAS A LUCKY PERSON FOR HIM  as he had earned a huge fortune selling those bits of land. Now I am nurturing an idea of the houses here and moving to a still far away place  to recover my peaceful life.!!!

INSPIRATIONS

I should have been ten years old when I had got hurt on my leg and had to go to a corporate hospital.  The  white apron nurses, the clean and neat atmosphere, the well educated doctors getting down from costly cars walking majestically certainly inspired  me young heart.  As days passed and as I grew my role models kept on changing from movie heroes to sports stars. But only when I started working as a teacher  I came across a person who really inspired me. The love he had for  children, his views towards the development of society, his interest in activity based teaching, his ideas in helping the slow learners really wondered me. He was ever ready to help the slow learners, and the differently abled children. Some of his ideas which  held me are
1]  He used to paint a wall in the nursery  and kinder garden rooms white so that the tiny tots could scribble themselves.
2]  He would never allow any teacher forcing a child to write. he used to say that finger movements should first develop and so they should first learn to cut paper, play with clay balls, paint and draw, before learning to write alphabets. He would also not allow elders to hold the hands of children and help them to write. It would spoil the originality he said.
3] Even while walking the child should hold the elders hand  and not viceversa. It develops confidence in the child.
4] If any child had not done home work ,the teacher should find out the reason....... might be there was a party the previous day or they had gone out or might be someone ill in their house, or some relatives had come...  and then help the child  to complete the work instead of punishing the child so that teacher is satisfied that her/his work is completed and the child is benefited by learning something.
5] Each and every child should be given a chance to participate in the annual day celebrations.
6] Children have the right to ask innovative questions, put forth their creative ideas in the class and the teachers should not stop them
7]Children were free to meet him and discuss their problems at any time.
8] Teachers were also given freedom to teach the subjects in their own style
9]  Children should play atleast for one hour every day that too with proper shoes and sports dress under the supervision of an teacher following the rules of the game.
10] Children  should never be differentiated from each other based on their financial status or their learning capacity. He didnot allow to children to give gifts on anyone's birthday. They were asked to make greeting cards on anyone' birthday --be it his or a watchman or ayyah's birthday.
These are only a few of his principles  A day is not sufficient to discuss about his thoughts . his slogans such as
1]  Attitude determines altitudes.
2]  I hear I forget
     I see I remember
     I do I learn
3]  Never jump to conclusions
4] Teach more test less
5]  Act as if everything depends on you. Pray as if everything depends on god.
.                             He makes it a point to see that each class is taken to an excursion to a place full of  adventure and educative. These are some of the ideas of him . A true educationist, a singer , a fine cricketer, an over all all rounder he inspires everyone with his ideals and approach. It is no surprise tha we are inspired by such a rare personality. He is none other than the founder director of our school, Mr Y K Guruwara. I thank you sir for all that you have taught me. I am sure to remember those valuables things throughout my life.

THANK YOU MOM

I still remember the first day I had to recite a poem in my school. My teacher had selected me for the recitation competition representing my class  I was neither a brilliant child nor an active child but her decision to allow me to participate in the competition  helped me to know much more about my mother.  She took the competition very seriously and in fact wrote a small poem in simple language . she helped me in the pronunciation of words, expression modulation of tone and voice untiringly Though I was nervous in the beginning,  my mummy voice of encouraging words lingered in my mind and gave me the necessary support. Whether I won a prize or not is secondary matter but the fact that it boosted my courage and paved way for my further competitions and victories. I owe a great deal for all the good that has happened to me. Now that she is little old with gone teeth and silver hair does not in any way reduce the love for her in me. In fact I ask her to color her hair with Godrej Expert Rich Crème  so that she would still look young and my children respect her and get inspired by her http://godrejexpert.com/single_used_pack.php
